Content Blocking
Employee viewing and trading of pornographic, offensive or otherwise unproductive material has emerged as a key concern of many business managers. Not only are these activities wasteful of time and resources in themselves, they may also involve the employer in legal issues of harassment. The ease of access and distribution of these materials makes these issues all too common in daily business.
Attachments are an important component of daily email communications. Unfortunately, attachments are often misused for unproductive and offensive/malicious purposes. Pornography and other offensive video, sound and image files have serious repercussions for sexual harassment liability and negatively impact on a business's reputation.
Acceptable Use Policy
GatewayDefender is able to control email attachments based on your company's Acceptable Use Policy. For example, if your policy states that no employee sends or receives executable (.EXE) files, except for members of the IT department, GatewayDefender allows you to make it so.
GatewayDefender can identify over 80 different file types by the file type code signature, with more being added all the time. This means that even if someone tries to slip an attachment past GatewayDefender by changing the file extension, GatewayDefender will still recognize the true file type by its internal code characteristics. GatewayDefender can identify other file types by extension if the type is not already pre-identified within GatewayDefender.
