DS1 Service
A high capacity digital private line, recommended for customers with greater volumes
of voice or data transmissions. Businesses use DS1 services to build their own local
private communications network or for high-capacity digital access to local and long
distance public network services. Utilizing a dedicated point-to-point connectivity,
DS1 Service gives users the ability to multiplex up to 24 DS0 level channels to
simultaneously transmit multiple calls or lower-speed applications.

DS1 Service is used for two fundamental purposes: To create intraLata or local
private line networks and for access to public switched network services. A customer can
use Special Access DS1 circuits for the local loop segment(s) of a point-to-point
interLATA (IXC) circuit.
DS3 Service
DS3, also known as a T3, is a high-capacity fiber optic service that provides low-cost
data connectivity for voice, data, or video applications. Bandwidth-intensive applications
are a natural fit for DS3 service, which is provisioned using fiber optic technology.
DS3 Service provides 28 times the capacity of a DS1. If you require a direct connection to
the company’s network backbone, centralized database, or to the Internet backbone, DS3 is
a reliable, expandable solution. Businesses use DS3 Service to build their own local
private communications networks or for high-capacity digital access to local and long
distance public network services. DS3s are most commonly channelized (divided into up
to 28 DS1 channels), but can also be used as a single circuit for very high bandwidth
applications, such as broadcast-quality video transport.

DS3 Service is used for two fundamental purposes: To create private line networks
and for optimizing public network access. However, these are not mutually exclusive. For
example, a customer can use an DS3 private line to interexchange carrier (IXC) point
of presence (POP) to be run over an IXC public network, then over another private line
from the POP to destination.
